Overview
Le Galeriste is a print-on-demand company specializing in wearable art. They partner with artists worldwide to create unique fashion products including dresses, tops, pants, scarves, headbands, aprons, and towels. Using high-quality fabrics and eco-friendly inks, they produce their products in Montreal, Canada. Their mission: producing humanly and environmentally ethical products while promoting art and culture.
The Challenge
Le Galeriste started as a fashion company in 2015, selling wearable art from artists worldwide. As popularity grew, they wanted to expand their e-commerce site into a full marketplace where artists could open their own shops. This required sophisticated commission calculations based on who sells what and where, plus a design asset management system for artists.
Our Approach
- NopCommerce Foundation — Built initial e-commerce site using NopCommerce for its extensive feature list and .NET Framework
- Marketplace Expansion — Created additional microservices using .NET Core and React to transform the platform into a multi-vendor marketplace
- Performance Optimization — Developed custom product search algorithms using Elastic Search when NopCommerce performance limitations emerged
- Digital Asset Management — Built streamlined database system helping designers store and manage design files efficiently
- Commission System — Implemented sophisticated commission calculations for the marketplace model
Results
- 400% Growth — Le Galeriste scaled up 400% compared to 5 years prior
- Producing thousands of fashionable creations for clients globally
- Successful transformation from e-commerce to artist marketplace
- Artists freed from manual asset management to focus on design
