Le Galeriste is a print-on-demand company that specializes in wearable art. They partner with artists from around the world to create unique and elevated fashion products, such as dresses, tops, pants, scarves, headbands, aprons and towels. They use high-quality fabrics and eco-friendly inks to produce their products in Montreal, Canada. They also offer a fully-integrated platform for artists to design, buy and sell their art on clothing and accessories. Le Galeriste aims to promote art and culture through their products and services.
Le Galeriste started as a fashion company in 2015, selling wearable art from artists all over the world. To reach customers directly, they created an e-commerce site. We, Futurify, used NopCommerce to build the website because of its extensive feature list and .NET Framework. As Le Galeriste grew more popular, they wanted to expand their e-commerce platform into a marketplace where artists could open their own shop to promote their artwork and products. With Le Galeriste as the backbone, artists can put their work on different fabrics, such as dresses, tops, and pants. This model also comes with a more sophisticated commission calculation based on who sells what and where.
To expand the platform without rebuilding the entire system, we created more micro-services for the marketplace using .NET Core and React. However, we encountered performance issues with NopCommerce and had to develop our own product search algorithms using Elastic Search, which greatly enhanced the speed. As part of our responsibility to develop the website's back-end, we built a streamlined and systematic database to help designers store and manage design files easily. This frees designers from the stress of manual management and helps them allocate digital assets more efficiently, enabling them to focus on delivering design prototypes.
By the end of 2021, Le Galeriste will have scaled up by 400% compared to what it was 5 years ago, producing thousands of fashionable creations for clients globally. Le Galeriste has undoubtedly found a way to bring fabrics to life and weave together the artistry of the world's most respected artists with the quality of Montreal craftsmanship. No matter how large their growth may be in the future, we believe their mission of producing "humanly & environmentally ethical products" will never fade away.
